Evoke is a group of 5 people, 5 personalities, representing a range of styles and a variety of countries.
Having known each other for years, Evoke was founded in 2006 by Angi, Dora, Celia, Asia One and Miss Nicc. Together they have performed in 2006 & 2007 at the b.supreme (UK Festival for Woman in Hip Hop) in the Southbank Center (Purcell Room & Queen Elizabeth Hall) in London.
As each member has a different background and foundation they can all benefit from the individual experiences in B-Boying, that each member brings with, such as performing, organizing events, teaching workshops, battling, judging and more...
Evokes themes allude to situations in everyday life from the mundane to deep-rooted social & cultural issues and politics. Evoke strives to expose these themes through the expression of dance.
To be in a world full of manly engergies and power, to harness the power of conception and creation and challenge global society, is what gives them the motivation to do what they do and to be who they are. Their pieces stimulate in a critical, provocatively, humorous and emotional way.
Their goal is to entertain and touch the viewer, give them something to smile about and go home with and remember later, like a familiar voice that echoes within.
